OOC - Modern Day AU
Oct. 20th, 2013 10:40 am Hey look I'm actually prepared for this now. So here's how modern/normal Giles works:
He's the youngest son in a minor branch of a really important family in Britain. His big brother Aristeo kind of did the rebel thing, but it led to some really bad choices and he's not that psyched about it anymore, especially after being ex-communicated from the family. But Giles thinks he's the dog's bollocks still and that being rebellious is the best way to get attention. Aristeo is his biggest hero but he's deeply disappointed that Aristeo is trying to seem posh now.
So once upon a time Giles beat the crap out of his best friend, but he was dragged to the ER and Giles was put in a kind of quarantine until he'd calmed down and he ended up getting therapy while Elliott was recovering. Elliott's alive, but currently refuses to speak to Giles ever. Giles got out of therapy because his family said he was cured, and... he really isn't. Not yet.
So Giles went to public high school because he purposefully flunked from every private school in Britain, and made some awesome friends who did stupid stereotypical high school boy shit with him like getting drunk and breaking mailboxes with baseball bats. Nowadays they have a band.
Also he's got a really homoromantic bromance thing going on with his friend Toby, who is about the only bookworm he ever talks to. There's subtext about Toby in half of his band's songs because Giles is in charge of writing the songs. He's been actively trying to get Elliott to join his band and might win some time in the future.
Also he has a girlfriend, but it's a relationship of convenience and although she's madly in love with him, he's not really psyched about it. It's mostly because at some point his family found out he was calling himself asexual and gay and supporting LGBT+ things and he had to date a girl to get them off his back. Sometimes they make clothes or robots together and talk about boys and she gets to come to all of his band's gigs.
